HYATTSVILLE, Md., May 22, 2025 – Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS) and CCI Health Services celebrated the grand opening of the first Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) in Prince George’s County during a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by state and local officials. This joint effort, known as Senior CommUnity Care of Maryland PACE, is designed to help seniors age in place by offering comprehensive healthcare services that support independence and enhance quality of life.
“It’s with deep joy and pride that CCI Health Services joins Volunteers of America to bring this comprehensive model of care to the county,” remarked Dr. Sonya Bruton, CEO and President of CCI Health Services. “Today marks not just the opening of a facility, but the beginning of a transformative journey for our older neighbors. This is more than a service expansion for us—it’s a new promise to our community’s seniors: that aging with dignity, vitality and joy is not just possible, but expected.”
Located on Brightseat Road in Hyattsville, the new program is open to area residents aged 55 and older who can live safely at home. It offers a holistic approach to care by integrating medical, social, and behavioral health services tailored to the unique needs of each participant. Services are affordable and covered by Medicaid, Medicare, or private pay.
“The opening of this PACE center has been a long time coming. However, we persisted and patiently moved through many obstacles and challenges to be able to celebrate this marvelous place where seniors will soon come for their healthcare, socialization, for meals, activities and work with an interdisciplinary team to remain living in their community and homes instead of institutions,” said VOANS SVP of Healthcare Paul Soczynski.
With both nonprofits having similar missions of supporting access to care and bright futures for all communities, the collaboration between VOANS and CCI Health Services makes sense. PACE is a true community-centered model that allows seniors to remain in the homes they love while receiving the care they need to stay healthy, active, and connected.
“CCI’s launch of PACE will help more residents of Prince George’s County access quality care alongside independent living. CCI has been a key provider of affordable health care for Marylanders of all ages, and this new partnership with Volunteers of America builds on their good work for Maryland seniors and their families,” said Senator Chris Van Hollen.
In addition to supporting seniors, the program provides crucial respite for caregivers, often unpaid family members juggling multiple responsibilities. According to the National PACE Association, 95 percent of caregivers would recommend the program.
Senior CommUnity Care of Maryland PACE offers a broad range of services including:
- Adult day health care
- Primary specialty and medical care
- Prescription and medication management
- Physical, occupational, and speech therapy
- Transportation
- Social programs and meal assistance
- Respite care for caregivers
