Doug Snyder

Vice President, Regional Real Estate Development

Doug serves as Vice President, Regional Real Estate Development for Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS).  This leadership position leads works closely with the executive team and is responsible for affordable housing development, acquisitions and recapitalizations in the western United States.  His primary markets include California, Colorado, Minnesota, Texas and secondary markets of Alaska and Oregon.  Doug leads a group of development directors and other staff in multiple markets while also driving the Colorado pipeline.  In his role, he supports the achievement of the strategic housing plan through a talented group of professionals and works to raise the bar in producing award-winning, high quality affordable housing. He has a passion for developing beautiful affordable housing and his favorite part of the process is seeing new residents move into their new apartment homes.  Doug joined VOA in 2012 and during his tenure has led the development of 10 development and two acquisition projects which include senior, family and permanent supportive housing during his.  He is responsible for overseeing land acquisitions, entitlements, program design, financial structuring and closings.  His financing experience includes Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, tax-exempt bonds, conventional debt, equity, HUD, gap financing and grants.  Prior to Volunteers of America Doug worked for a variety of multi-family and commercial developers in various development management roles including the Morgan Group, the Finger Companies, Carmel Partners, Trammell Crow and Lauth Property Group.  Doug has served in the past on the Housing Colorado Board as treasurer/chair of the finance committee and the conference planning committee, the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority‘s (CHFA) tax credit advisory group and Colorado State Division of Housing’s (DOH) strategic advisory group.  He has a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in real estate and construction management from the University of Denver.
