ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Nov. 14, 2024) – The National Pace Association (NPA) has appointed Paul Soczynski, senior vice president of healthcare for Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS), as their new board chair. His term began Oct. 14 and will run through October 2026, at which time he will move into the role of past chair for another two years, completing his stint on the board in 2028. In this role Soczynski will lead NPA’s Board of Executive Committee meetings, coordinate the association’s next strategic plan, and address key challenges facing PACE providers nationwide.

“It is an honor and a joy to be named the Board Chair of NPA, an association that is tied to my personal and professional calling,” Soczynski said. “The work PACE does to support older adults aligns with VOANS’ mission of helping seniors thrive in their communities. I am looking forward to collaborating with a brilliant group of leaders to advance senior health outcomes across the country.”

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, NPA provides leadership and support for the growth, innovation and success of the programs of all-inclusive care for the elderly (PACE). This unique care model supports older adults with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals so they can live at home and be part of their community for as long as possible. When NPA was created, there were 11 PACE programs across eight states. Today, NPA is advocating and supporting 163 PACE organizations that operate more than 300 PACE centers in 32 states and Washington, D.C., serving more than 72,000 seniors every year.

“I am thrilled for Paul to be stepping into the role of Board Chair at the National PACE Association,” said David Nisivoccia, executive vice president and chief operating officer at VOANS. “Paul is a skilled leader with decades of experience spearheading our senior healthcare strategy, and he has been integral in bringing the PACE model to VOA.”

Under Soczynski’s leadership, VOANS has embraced the PACE model and has opened six Senior CommUnity Care locations in Kentucky, Colorado, Michigan, and North Carolina. Plans for future expansion are underway in Maryland. For more information about VOANS’ PACE programs, click here.
