Share Your Time. Change a Life.

At Horizons Care Center, volunteers bring joy, companionship, and a sense of connection to older adults who call our community home. Whether you have an hour a week or a few hours each month, your time can make a meaningful difference in someone’s day and in your own.
As part of Volunteers of America National Services, a national, faith-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to serving older adults with compassion and dignity, we believe relationships are at the heart of exceptional care. Our volunteers play an important role in creating moments of happiness, purpose, and belonging for our residents.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is about much more than giving your time, it’s about building relationships that enrich lives.
For our residents, a friendly visit or shared activity can reduce loneliness, encourage social connection, and create joyful moments they look forward to.
We ask our volunteers to come when it fits their schedule, but we would love if there is some consistency, such as:
- Weekly same time of choice
- Once a month time of choice
- Any day and time that fits the volunteer’s schedule
For volunteers, the experience often brings a renewed sense of purpose, fulfillment, and gratitude. Many volunteers tell us they receive just as much as they give through the friendships they build and the stories they hear.
Our Volunteer Process
To help ensure the safety and well-being of everyone in our community, all volunteers complete these steps:
- Volunteer Application – Helps us learn about your interests, skills, and availability so we can match you with the right opportunity.
- Background Check – Because our residents are a vulnerable population, background screenings are required to provide a safe, secure environment for everyone in our care.
- Volunteer Orientation – You’ll receive an introduction to Horizons Care Center, learn about resident privacy, safety practices, best practices and discover how you can make the greatest impact in your volunteer role.
Our team will guide you through each step and help you feel comfortable and prepared before you begin.
Join Our Volunteer Family

Every smile shared, story heard, game played, or hand held reminds our residents that they are valued, remembered, and cared for. Often, residents do not have family nearby to pay them regular visits. Your presence helps fill that gap. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community while making lasting connections, we invite you to become a volunteer at Valley Manor Care Center.
Together, we can create moments that matter!
